I know the Rashomon Job is a just-for-fun episode, but I honestly think it's such an interesting look at Sophie's character. Her whole schtick is "I just stole art from rich people, I never hurt anyone!" but like... girl was absolutely ready to send a guy into anaphylactic shock just to get backstage at a museum that SHE WORKED AT. Like yes the show justifies it by saying the guy she thought she was poisoning was a blood diamond smuggler and all-round Bad Dude but still. If the others hadn't been there and things had gone according to Sophie's plan, there would have been a real chance that Minister Bad Dude would have ended up dead. So Sophie could slip out of a party at a museum that, again, she worked at. If storeroom access was such an issue, she's a good enough grifter that she could have figured something out without oh, I don't know, ENDANGERING SOMEONE'S LIFE.

Anyway. Really nicely illustrates Chaos's whole "everyone was scared of Sophie Deveraux" thing from season 2. I don't think I really got it until this moment.

i’ve been scratching my head over the whole watcher situation. I’m not a fan myself but got dragged into it cus of the people I follow, i only watched their puppet history series and the buzzfeed unsolved series from way back- honestly, i couldn’t care less if they locked all their stuff behind a paywall. I’m so neutral on this whole thing, i might as well be swiss.

but i’m not neutral? In fact, the whole thing really bothers me and i couldn’t figure out why.

cus i get it, yanno. As a company that thrives on creativity, i understand you’d wanna cut yourself off the mega-capatalist-giant that is youtube to get rid of annoying restrictions, and asking monetary support from your audience so you can really stretch the limit of your creativity. I GET IT.

And it STILL bothers me!

And then I figured it out:

the whole “any future videos they’ll be making will EXCLUSIVELY be available through a streaming service you have to pay a monthly subscription for” comes less across as “please support us monetarily so we can grow as creators”, and comes more across as “if you want to continue being a fan, or even being a part of the audience, you’re gonna have to pay up. You have no choice in the matter. It’s either pay, or you’re not a ‘real’ fan or a ‘real’ part of our audience.”

THAT’S what’s bothering me about it. It feels like they’re gatekeeping who gets to be part of their community with money (that not everyone might have). And knowing where they come from and how they started…. That’s… extremely tone deaf. To put it gently.

about carlos telling the story of something he forgot to do, is it possible he was talking about the "It's Friday then" radio? i know last year or something lando talked about how they both planned to sing it together but something happened with carlos' radio and he wasnt able to do it (or he forgot lol)

that's possible haha and if so it makes me love the resigned little shrug that carlos mimicked lando doing after carlos explained that he forgot

We took our steadiness training out into the wild last night!

#dogblr #rory borealis #bird dog training #the goal here is just to wait until i tap her to go get the thing #she stands better on the ground than on the board #so in subsequent runs i just moved the cato board #but nbd #shes doing soooo good #im gonna stay at this stage for a bit #no need to move forward from here for a while #i overheard some people saying that doing steadiness foundations too young can ruin your bird dog but i think thats nonsense??#if it is true well whatever ill know for the next dog #but shes not lacking enthusiasm so hopefully im fine #some notes if youre doing this at home: dog should be standing of their own free will not you holding them back #dog should be looking in the correct direction before you send them dont ask for eye contact #and only work on one skill at a time (dont ask for a steady to throw and a retrieve to heel if your dog doesnt know both of those separate)#and if you have multiple dogs consider using their name to release instead of 'go!' like im using here #just to make it easier to work multiple dogs at once if thats something you want to do

The guy just hummed. The leather of his belt snicked, quiet, as he slipped it back into the loops of his trousers. “You had a guy before, didn’t you?” He asked, low, dry. “One that loved you.”

George stared at the ceiling, bringing the cigarette back to his mouth. “About a million years ago.” He muttered, low.

“Mm. Dead or drafted?”

“I don’t know. Both, maybe.”

“Yeah, well.”

He looked like him. Dark eyes and hair, tanned skin.

It had been a recurring pattern since Joe. George just never looked too closely at their faces.

He missed what most of the guy said. “...hope you find him again.”

George put the cigarette out against the nightstand, not looking up. His heart was still beating too fast, and hadn't come down even as he grew more sore. “Exit’s to the left.” He said, quiet.

incredible how i keep um feeling worse and worse and worse. they should study me bc I'm failing simple tasks at a rate I'm sure is statistically improbable ....
